Three eminent professors decorated the Academic Palms
Three eminent professors were awarded the Order of Academic Palms by the Consul General Thursday, February 9th. The President of the University, Dr. Alexander King, a friend of France, opened the ceremony and gave us the honor of his presence during the evening. We also received the Secretary for Higher Education of the Embassy of France, Ms. Christel Outreman, who came back to support us in Louisiana.
This beautiful ceremony gathered together a hundred Francophiles and Francophones from LSU at the annual dinner of the "Friends of French Studies at LSU."
The literature professor Alexander Leupin (Knight), Professor of Law Olivier Moréteau (Officer) and the Dean of the College of Design and Architecture Pfr. Alcibiades Tsolakis (Officer) have all three been honored by the French Government for their careers and their major contribution to research and higher education. All three
are great allies of Francophonie and France in Louisiana, and we congratulate them again.
It was also an opportunity to honor the memory of Mr. Louis Curet, Louisiana lawyer and great Francophile patron of LSU, who sadly passed away last year. We regret with all of our hearts. The Consul General praised his daughter, attending the ceremony, who continues the work of her father in the service of French higher
A big thank you to Professor Adelaide Russo, President of Friends of French Studies, and Professor John Protevi, director of the Department of French Studies at LSU, for this wonderful evening which illustrated the strength of French culture in the great Louisiana State University!
