Mrs Terri Hammatt
Mrs Terri Hammatt was made Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes académiques in July 2008. Since then, Mrs Hammatt has not stopped weaving the threads for French education and language within the Department of Education and the Council for the development of French in Louisiana.
By implementing public and education authorities’ support for French in Louisiana she contributed to making the immersion program a quality example of public education, thereby making French an asset of French Louisiana identity. Thanks to her institutional and structural actions, a qualitative step has been taken with the implementation of a program for the renovation of language teaching standards that will enable the programs to be rewritten, in parallel with the labeling process of immersion schools and the creation of a training program for immersion teachers.
For the exceptional coherence of her work, for the acuteness of her unfailing engagement, for the exemplarity of her actions and the efficiency of the results, Mrs Hammatt is promoted to the rank of Officer in the order of the Palmes académiques.
