Mrs Michèle Broussard
Mrs Broussard has a PHD in education from the University of the State of Louisiana since 2003. A specialist in programs and education of French in Louisiana, she’s been teaching at McNeese University in Lake Charles since 2004 and is head of the MA in education since 2010.
As a professor of French as second language in high school, Mrs Broussard decided to turn to teaching French immersion in elementary schools in Lafayette Parish, focusing on the development of an educational process integrating Louisiana culture in French in the classes. This will enable her to demonstrate the benefits of such an education, bettering students’ academic performances.
Mrs Broussard is a reference in matters of training and research in bilingual education. Expert in the evaluation of innovative projects and quality approaches in education for the Department of Education of Louisiana, she has implemented a project and training content for immersion teachers. She is particularly active at the associative level, president of the consortium of French immersion schools of Louisiana, of the association of research in education of the Middle South, Vice president of the council for the development of French in Louisiana.
To recognise her engagement in favouring linguistic and cultural diversity in service of developing French language, for quality public education Mrs. Michelle Broussard is named Chevalier of the Order of the Palmes académiques in January 2014.
