Mission: Lt Governor’s Nungesser official visit to France [fr]
The Consul General accompanied Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser in Paris and Lyon for a French-Louisianan cooperation mission. The delegation consisted of senators, tourism professionals and representatives of economic and political ties to Louisiana.
This mission was enacted to promote bilateral trade for mutual economic and cultural benefits. Each year, trade between France and Louisiana represent $3 billion and create over 13,000 jobs.
The preparations for the tri-centennial of New Orleans in 2018 were discussed, especially regarding the essential role of the Francophonie in Louisiana and the support of CODOFIL.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor and senators met the France-Louisiana Association, the France-US Friendship Group from the Senate, the Mayor of Paris and the US embassy in Paris.The delegation also went to Lyon, where they met with the Mayor and representatives of the metropolis of Greater Lyon.
The lieutenant governor gave numerous interviews on his trip, including live on TV5 Monde.
The Louisianans were received enthusiastically by the French, who, once again, demonstrated their affection for the state with the most French representation in the United States.
