High Civil Defense Committee of France visits Louisiana [fr]
The HCFDC visited Louisiana the week of September 6th to study Louisiania’s crisis management plans 11 years after Hurricane Katrina.
The delegation, lead by Christian Sommade, which consisted of French crisis management professionals (SNCF, France Televisions, local collectives, insurance agencies), met with crisis centers in New Orleans, Lafayatte, and Baton Rouge. The delegation was welcomed by Mayor Mitch Landrieu and carried out organized field visits alongside the Consul General and Vice Consul.
The mission was a useful exchange of best practices between Louisiana and France, in an effort to improve the state’s prevention and emergency procedures. .
