Goût de France/Good France 2016 in New Orleans [fr]

The Consulate General of France in Louisiana, in partnership with your favorite restaurants, Café Degas and Purloo, is proud to present “Goût de France/Good France” in New Orleans from March 22 to March 26, 2016.

For the Mois de la Francophonie, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, on the initiative of French chef Alain Ducasse, is showcasing the French art de vivre around the world.

More than 1,500 chefs worldwide will prepare a special menu inspired by the excellence of their expertise: French cuisine.

As the Francophone hub of the United States, New Orleans and its cuisine are a perfect match to be represented in this spectacular worldwide culinary experience.

Chef Laurent Rochereux of Café Degas and Chef Ryan Hughes at Purloo will be presenting, from March 22-26, a 3-course menu highlighting the local produce and French heritage of Louisiana.

Each recipe is prepared with less fat, sugar and salt, with a concern for “good food”, healthy-eating and the environment. Using fresh ingredients from Louisiana, Café Degas and Purloo are able to show the world why the local produce, big hearts and healthy appetites of New Orleans make it the capital of French cuisine.

During Goût de France/Good France, a portion of the proceeds will go to local non-profit organizations promoting health and the environment.

Joining in this worldwide initiative, Café Degas and Purloo will donate 5% of their proceeds to Slow Food and Sankofa.
