French Delegation Tours Hubs for Global Business, Innovation
Joining forces with some of the brightest minds on the U.S. east coast, three of France’s top officials in small business and innovation development visited Boston and New York City on October 25 and 26 to launch a new pro-growth project that will roll out in a half-dozen key economic areas worldwide.
Called "Say Oui to France, Say Oui to Innovation," the initiative seeks to marry French expertise with established and developing markets. Following the U.S. début, it will start operations in Canada on November 13 and 14, with chapters opening in Brazil, India and China in the next 12 months.
Fleur Pellerin, France’s Junior Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy, delivered a speech during the annual emTech conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on October 25. Accompanying her were David Appia, President of the French Agency of International Investments (AFII), and Yves Lapierre, Director General of France’s patent and trademark office, the Institute for Industrial Property (INPI).
The official "Say Oui to France" website was launched the same day, which provides information in four languages for the business-minded visitor.
The aim to initiate new business activity reflects the importance of "economic diplomacy," which emerged as a top priority of France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. The latest project stems from Mr. Fabius’ broad three-part plan to support French enterprises in external markets, adopt better financial governance in Europe and abroad, and to encourage foreign investment in France.
In an August editorial in the French business journal Les Echos, the Minister called for a strengthening of France’s "economic reflex" with the help of its global diplomatic network.
In New York on October 26, Minister Pellerin and Mr. Appia conducted meetings with several of the city’s prominent technology and innovation journalists. Click here to read about the launch day.
