Decoration of the Legion of Honor Medal to Six Veterans [fr]
February 26, 2015, the Consul General of France in Louisiana, Grégor Trumel, awarded six veterans of the Second World War with the French Legion of Honor medal for their service.
The moving ceremony, led by museum president, Dr. Nick Mueller, and Mr. Bill Detweiler, Consultant for Military and Veteran Affairs, brought a large gathering to the National World War II Museum, including the families and numerous friends of the veterans.

Mr. Ralph J. Bertheaud (posthumous), Mr. Louis Bradley (Plaquemines Parish, LA), Mr. Aubrey H.Covington (Metairie, LA), Mr. Leonard J. Kuckelman (Atchison County, KS), Mr. Ubert J. Labat Jr. (Slidell, LA), and Mr. Lampton C. Terrel (Bush, LA) were named Knights of the Order of the Legion of Honor.
The warm and solemn ceremony was opened by a presentation of colors by a post of the American Legion. The participants sang the national anthems of France and the United States, as well as the Hymn of the US Marine Corps. A champagne reception followed.
The Consulate General of France expresses its gratitude to the veterans for their sacrifice and their acts of service. France will never forget.
